2009 Gateway Chess League Board Tournament

Here are the details for the next tournament which is taking place on Saturday Dec. 5th.

There will be six rounds: 9:30, 11:00, 12:30, 2:00, 3:30, and 5:00. They will try to start the last round early if they can. Awards are scheduled for 6:30.

Two school trophies and eight individual trophies will be handed out in our division which is 5th and Under.

Players may be paired with kids in other sections.

Tournament is at Chaminade High School. The address is 425 South Lindbergh St. Louis 63131. Drive around to where the gym is. Rounds will be in the gym and skittle area is in the cafeteria.

Please bring a chess set if you have it to use.

2009 Gateway Chess League Fall Open Details

This is the info for our division for the tournament coming up on Saturday.

Fifth Grade and Under Division Format: There will be five rounds at 9:30, 11:00, 12:30, 2:00, and 3:30 with the last round starting early if possible. Students in kindergarten through grade 5 are eligilble. Each school may enter any number of students. The school score is the sum of the four highest player scores. Two school trophies and five individual trophies will be awarded. Time control is 30 minutes. Players may be paired with players in other sections.

Award ceremony is scheduled for 5:30. They may do that earlier if they get the last round done earlier and get it all sorted early.

They will use USCF ratings. If a student doesn't have one yet they will be assigned a rating in order to pair them up to start.

If you have boards and clocks please bring them to use.

Gateway League Tournament Coming Up!!

On November 7, the Chess Tigers travel to the first rated Gateway Tournament of the season at Washington Middle School .... yes, the one in beautiful (but distant for City folk) Washington, Missouri, a full 58 minutes from school.

Crossroads Tournament Results

















Yesterday, 18 Chess Tigers competed at the Crossroads College Preparatory School Elementary Tournament, winning First Place in the 5th grade and under division. Every player contributed to the effort by winning at least one point.

Gateway Chess League has posted their Saturday tournament schedule. As each tournament draws near we will put more info on here about the tournament.

First Tournament of the Season!

Gateway Chess has announced the first tournament of the season: an unrated K-6 tournament at Crossroads School in the City.

Cost is $10 per person.

Registration is from 8am-9am. There will be 5 rounds, G30, beginning at 9:30am.

Round times are: 9:30am, 11am, 12:30pm, 2pm, and 3:30pm.

The award ceremony will take place at 5:30pm.

There will be trophies for the top three K-6 teams and the top three K-5 teams, as well as for the top 3 in each grade level.

2009-2010

We're all excited to start the 2009-2010 season. Gateway Chess hasn't yet announced the tournament schedule for the year, but we start our practices September 15 in the library, after school. Check for updates!
